BUILDER CUSTOMIZATION GUIDE -- WALL SECTIONS

CUSTOMIZABLE -- Gypsum board brand (if matching density and thickness per spec), stud manufacturer, resilient channel brand, surface finish coats and paint colour, visible trim profiles and corner bead style, sealant brand (if matching acoustic rating).

DO NOT ALTER -- Wall type total thickness, number of gypsum layers per side, stud cavity depth, stud gauge, RSIC clip model and spacing, Green Glue application rate, rockwool density and thickness, layer sequence as drawn, air gap dimensions, perimeter isolation details. Any change to these requires written approval from the acoustic consultant.

⚠️ Green Glue — Advance Procurement Required

5 of 7 wall types in this project (W3, W4, W5, W6, W7) require Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound as a constrained-layer damping (CLD) agent between gypsum boards. This product is essential to achieving the specified STC ratings and cannot be substituted with generic adhesive, construction adhesive, or silicone.

Green Glue may not be available through standard local building suppliers. Order well in advance — verify local distributor availability or plan for international shipping lead times before beginning wall construction.

Application rate: 2 tubes per m² per damped layer (4 tubes per m² for double-sided walls like W5 and W6). Refer to each wall's BOM for exact quantities. If Green Glue is unavailable in your region, contact the acoustic consultant before selecting an alternative — incorrect substitution will void the STC performance guarantee.

Junction Details

Every gap, crack, or rigid connection is a flanking path. These junction details are the most critical part of acoustic isolation.

Critical
Any gap in the acoustic envelope is a flanking path. Even a 1mm continuous gap can reduce a wall's STC rating by 10+ points. All junctions must be sealed with acoustic sealant (never silicone caulk).

Wall-to-Wall Junction

Where different wall types meet at corners or T-intersections.

WALL A WALL B Acoustic Sealant Acoustic Sealant No rigid connections between independent wall systems Gypsum layers must NOT touch at junction Fill gap with acoustic sealant only

Wall-to-Floor Junction

Float floor interface - gypsum must never touch the slab.

CONCRETE SLAB Neoprene 10mm Float Floor 15mm 70mm STUD 5mm GAP 5mm GAP Acoustic sealant fills gap Gypsum NEVER touches floor

Wall-to-Ceiling Junction

Decoupled ceiling interface with acoustic sealant gap.

CONCRETE SLAB ABOVE Resilient hanger 2x Gypsum + Green Glue WALL STUD 5mm gap + sealant Wall gypsum must NOT touch ceiling gypsum Independent decoupled systems

Wall-to-Door Frame Junction

Acoustic door frame sealed into wall assembly.

DOOR FRAME DOOR STC 45-50 Automatic drop seal Neoprene gasket Acoustic sealant between gypsum and door frame WALL ASSEMBLY Frame must be isolated from stud with neoprene
