Assumptions & Limitations

Every prediction in this study depends on these assumptions being met. This page is the definitive reference for what can be customized and what must remain unchanged.

Performance Responsibility

Conditions for Predicted Performance

Exclusions

Design Assumptions

Acoustic predictions depend on these conditions. If any assumption does not hold during construction, the affected predictions should be re-evaluated.

Field STC Estimates

Laboratory STC ratings assume ideal test conditions. Installed (field) performance is typically 3–7 points lower. These estimates account for real-world construction conditions.

Engineering Advisory
Wall Name Lab STC Est. Field STC Note

Engineering Advisories

These field-proven practices directly affect acoustic performance. Ignoring any of these advisories may void the performance predictions in this study.

Modification Policy

[AC] Acoustic Critical

Do not modify without acoustic consultant approval.

[DEC] Decorative

Can be customized per client/contractor preference.

Normal Production Levels

Isolation predictions in this study assume these “normal production levels.” Performance at higher levels is not guaranteed.
